Basically what I wish to do is make only the desktop accessible from a user in windows xp. so when i they click on the start menu I want it to come up with the "Logoff or switch user" window. I dont want the user to do anything but work with what is on the desktop. Is there any way to do this

Thanks

Using the MSC, you can disable everything else. You can disable everything but the add logoff for the start menu in the gpedit.msc . Go Run > gpedit.msc > User config > Admin Temp > Start Menu & Taskbar > disable everything but "add logoff to start menu" . You can configure a script to do this upon logging on, or just set up a group profile to these specifications and add the intended users to that group.

My computer says it can't find that file. gpedit.msc Is it possible that I don't have it?
