adjust height of insertion point

Some Word documents have the normal full insertion pointer, a little taller
than the characters being keyed. Other Word documents have a short insertion
pointer, about 1/4 the height of a character. Is there a way to control the
height or reset it?

I found the answer [search: pointer] in a January 22 posting and its 9th
(April 16) reply from ChristianM .

I agree - it's a 2003 bug. I've been through ~5 versions of Word, and
haven't had this occur. Now it occurrs quite a bit - then disappears. I do a
lot of Zoom (especially 19% see 12-page newsletter layout). It happens
accidently and disappears accidently. Now I can get rid of this annoying
appearance. Thank you ChristianM!

This happened to me this morning. I was using a document that I was viewing
in a scaled down mode (@25%) and when I brought the view back up the cursor
size seemed to have gotten stuck at 25%. I rescaled the document view to 10%
and changed it back to 100% and that seemed to fix it. I think there is a
small bug in Word 2003...

Word works the graphics card surprisingly hard. Chances are that this is a
graphics driver anomaly. See if there's an update, and/or reduce the
hardware acceleration.
