Addressing Recipients with Windows Fax

In previous versions of Microsoft Fax, the fax wizard allowed you to enter a
recipient name, fax number, and so on. It seems that with Windows Fax and
Scan there is no way to enter a name and number in the “To:†field unless you
add an address book entry and then choose that persons fax address.

Often we find users wanting to just send a quick fax to someone that is not
in their address books and they don't want to go through all the steps to add
them. They simply want to enter the recipient name and number and that's
all. Are we missing something on how to address faxes with Vista's Windows
Fax and Scan? Every time I have attempted to enter a name and number Fax and
Scan ask for an address book entry match. It will accept just numbers, but
numbers only.

Anyone out there figured out a workaround yet? Microsoft: Please update
Windows Fax and Scan so one can enter an on the fly number AND NAME when
sending a quick fax. Thanks!

We have discussed this before. There is the ability to add a name and
number without adding to your contacts.

'when new fax opens, click on 5th icon from left, this will allow you to
enter a name, country code, or unclick this option if you are faxing locally,
and fax number.'

Let the group know if it works for you.

When I click that button on my personal system, it does not work. Nothing
happens. Any suggestions as to what I need to change settings or registry
wise to enable that feature? I thought I had remembered that working on
pre-release versons of Vista.

I just tried this on another test system running Vista here in my office
that is a realatively clean install and it works just fine. I will keep
messing with it on my system and see what I come up with.

If I find the solution before someone posts it here, I will post my steps to
correct the problem to this thread.
