Addresses not appearing when composing a new email

About a month ago I encoutered an odd problem when composing an email. When
I click on the To:/Cc: or Bcc: button I get the address book view (name and
email address) but people I KNOW are in my contacts do not appear on the
viewer or if they do, their email addresses are missing. I have to manually
insert the email address othewise the email will sit in my outbox until I
delete it. Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

A few questions for you:
- what version of Outlook are you using?
- do the contacts have email addresses in at least one of the three email
fields?

I am using Office 2007 and have been since october of last year. In the
contacts file, there are email addresses in at least the first field and in
some cases there is more than one! That is why I am finding it so strange
that this should be happening...

First thing to check is to make sure the Contacts folder is selected to be
an address book (right click on the Contacts folder, go to the Outlook
Address Book tab)
