Address resolution over VPN

Hi

When I work from the office I can access machines by name, such as
\\machine1 and \\machine2. However when I try to access them using the VPN
from home I get the following errors:

Windows cannot find "\\machine2". Check the spelling and try again, or try
searching for the item by clicking the Start button and then clicking Search.

I am able to access them by using the IP address.

Many thanks.
