address labels disappear and are replaced by <<addressblock>> ?

When I open a page in Word 2003 containing address lables to print on Avery
5160 Labels, some not all of the addresses are there for a half second, and
then disappear and are replaced with <<addressblock>>. Two things are very
strange about this. 1) I've been using these same files for 4 months and
this is just now happening and 2) It only happens to some of the labels, even
on the same page. I have 700 labels in the folder and 200 of them disappear.

I had that happen to one of my end users and discovered that somehow the text
was formatted to be hidden text. Check your Tools | Options | View and make
your you have a checkmark in hidden. You can tell if it's hidden text as it
will put a broken black dotted line underneath the text when it's revealed.

Thanks, Richard, but that didn't do it. It looks like I'l;l be able to
recreate it, so I'm not going to worry about it. I'll be more careful about
backing it up next time.

If only some of the records are showing <<addressblock>> it sounds as though
the document is corrupt or clicking <<ABC>> on the merge toolbar should
toggle the display.

The addressblock field is somewhat constricting, so if you are going to the
trouble of rebuilding the merge document - then use the individual fields to
put yourself back in control. See
