Address Book : View Order

A

Arto Becker

The names that appear in the Address Book from folders which I've
checked to be included as email addresses in the Properties of
Contacts folders in Outlook are ordered First Name, Last Name. I want
the order to be by Last Name, First Name. The Address Book is utilized
when you go to address an email message in Outlook and press the "To"
bar: the Address Book comes up and the folders that have contacts that
one can access are those folders checked in Outlook to generate email
addresses. This is not related to the "File As" record in Outlook or
how contacts are ordered when viewing them in Outlook. How do I change
the order of names in the Address Book.

Normally, one posts their Outlook version so we can answer questions like
this.

Depending on your version and mail support mode of Outlook, you can sort the
Outlook Address Book this way (check for your mode on the second line of the
Help menu > About):

97, 98/2000 in Corporate/Workgroup mode:
Tools menu > Services > Highlight the Outlook Address Book service > Click
Properties > Set sort order

98/2000 Internet Mail Only:
Tools menu > Address Book > View menu > Sort by

Outlook 2002/2003:
Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > Set your sort order there
