address bar won't populate contacts

I haven't been able to figure out why I can't get my contacts to populate
when I'm composing emails. In my old outlook it would give me options when I
started typing in the To/CC/BCC bars and made it much easier & faster to
email people. Now, unless I've sent an email to a person earlier in the day,
I need to type the entire email address or click on the To/CC/BCC tabs.

Is there a setting to allow the population of addresses to resume?

Windows Mail doesn't use the contacts list when it is completing addresses.
Instead, it uses a separate list of the last 29 addresses you sent messages
to.
This list is very hard to edit; it's easier just to send messages to the 29
addresses you want on the list. If you'd rather use the contacts list, just
click on the line you want the address on.

The answers to this question clarify one thing I had noticed - if I manually
typed in a name, then the next time I used it, auto-completion worked.
However, what is the solution for WM? Sounds like there is a known issue
which implies MS will fix it someday. Or, is WLM to become the Vista default
email program? Other than this very annoying problem, WM works great for me
and I'd prefer to stay with it.

MS is not likely to fix any of he deficiencies in Windows Mail, since
they have declared WLM to be the replacement email program.

Microsoft seems to have stopped issuing updates for Windows Mail,
so this isn't likely to change. They are putting most of their email effort
toward their new email program, Windows Live Mail.
