I have recently been hit with hijacking bars that get attached to my
IE6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 browser (also popup takeovers). i have
used many of the programs out there to rid them. I am now clean of any
hijackers or forced popups when using IE browser, but what has lingered
after the cleanup is the NON ability to type a search word into the address
bar and have my favorite search engine (google) work again. all i get now is
"page cannot be displayed". FOr example: i use the word "dog" for search and
what gets returned to me is the error page along with this "http:///? dog"
in the address bar. i have already set my search pages using the custom link
and can go that direction, but i want my address bar to go back to its
orginal state so that i may search from there. any suggestions would be
helpful! i am running xp pro with cable internet access using linksys nic
thru linksys switch then into my cable modem. p.s. this has always worked
until i got hit with the hijacking stuff.
Thanks, Gale
