Address Bar keeps bringing up Lycos search engine

I used to be able to hit CTRL+Enter to add www and .com
to the end of the word in my address bar. Now when i do
it, lycos or hotbot search engines show up in the
browser. Can someone help?

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).
