Address Bar Drop-Down won't Drop-Down!

Hi,
I am using Internet Explorer 6 SP2 and suddenly I can't access the address
bar drop-down menu as it simply does not respond when I click on it. This was
working fine yesterday and I can't see any changes between then and now that
would cause this. I can't seem to uninstall IE6 from AddRemove Programs (as
it's not there) or Add/Remove Windows Components (as this seems to do
nothing). All the information I can find around the net seems to suggest
messing with the registry (something I don't want to do) or using the Windows
XP disk (which I don't have).
Any suggestions on why this occurred and how I can fix it gratefully
appreciated as I use this drop-down menu all the time. (And I don't want to
install IE7 as I hated it!)
Kind Regards.

Hello,

Try clearing your Recent Documents
Start > Control Panel > Taskbar and Start Menu > Start Menu (tab) >
Customize > Advanced (tab) > Clear List

Also try clearing your temporary files
Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Delete Files

Do you mean you don't have it on your Menu toolbar?.
Right click on the toolbar (on an empty area) and make sure the address Bar
is selected, does this help?.
Also make sure your computer malware free, does every thing else is okay?.
HTH.

Hi,
Thanks for all your suggestions. I tried disabling all the add-ons, but even
with all of them disabled, the drop-down menu still won't work. The Address
Bar is indeed selected and I have AVG running to detect viruses etc. (nothing
showing up). I unistalled IE7 a while ago after trying it for a day, so I
don't think it has anything to do with it. I was hoping just to remove IE6
and reinstall it, but it seems if you have done this before, it doesn't show
up on Add/Remove Programs anymore. It's simply a matter that, when I click on
the little arrow on the Address Bar to view all the recently visited
addresses, it just doesn't respond. It's like it's trying to, as the address
in the Address Bar alternately highlights, and sometimes I can faintly see
the outline of where the drop down box should be, but it just isn't
functioning! Thanks again anyway - I'll keep plugging away and let you know
if I sort it.
Kind Regards.

Thanks guys! That fix worked! I thought it hadn't to begin with, but I shut
down all the IE windows I had up, and when I started it again, my Address Bar
Menu was back (minus any addresses!). Thanks so much for all your suggestions
- that was driving me nuts!
Kind Regards
Dianne.

I see that Nass' suggestion fixed your problem, but you still didn't answer
my question: Did this problem only start after you uninstalled IE7? IOW,
did you have this problem when IE7 was installed?...before installing IE7?
