Address bar and drop down list not working.

Starting yesterday whenever I open Internet Explorer I cannot use the
drop-down list on the address bar without locking IE up. However, if I type
the address into the address bar and hit go or the enter button nothing
happens. I can only navigate by using history, favorites, links on the home
page or links from an outside source such as an email. Anybody have any idea
what is going on here?

Try the following and see if it helps:

Restore default Search functions:

Restore Search:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/RestoreSearch2.REG
This will restore your default Search functionality. If you have any custom
setups you may have to rest them afterward.

I'm having the same problem. Did you try the fix proposed by Jan 1? If so,
did it work?
