Additional licenses for Window XP

I have one licensed copy of window-xp (I paid $300+ for
it!) and I have two additional PCs running w-ME for my
kids: My question -- is there, for a small fee, a right-
to- copy option from MS that would allow me to copy my
licensed copy of XP onto the additional PCs?

Please adevise.

If I remeber correctly - from what I read about
licensing.... with out paying for a second user license,
or a second copy of windows xp, because it is not a
buisness and only personal use, take the original Windows
XP disk and install it on the other machines - provided
they are for personal use only, and they are capable of
running it..... How did you pay 300 + for windows
XP... ?? I only paid 160 for Pro - upgrade.

You don't remember correctly. Windows is licenced for one licenced copy to
one machine only.

Thank u for getting back to me. I lost the original XP
installation disk. Hence, the re-purchase for the full
installation disk.

Luc it would have been cheaper to have bought a secondhand full non oem
version of 98 then buy an upgrade of XP. You can still do a clean install
using an upgrade CD as they are the same it is only the license that is
different. If you ever do what I suggest make sure you buy a seconhand
retail not oem version as oem versions aren't usually upgradable.

Sorry, that's not correct. Whether it's for business or personal
use is irrelevant. The rule is quite clear. It's one copy (or one
license) for each computer.

There's nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that's
been in effect on every version of Windows starting with Windows
3.1. The only thing new with XP is that there's now an
enforcement mechanism.

Greetings --

You must have read that in some work of fiction, I'm afraid. It's
most definitely not true of Windows licensing.

You can get a second license, but the 'small' applies to discount,
rather than price, and you would probably find it cheaper to buy copies
at Best Buy or the like
