Hello,

I have 2 sites with one domain. On site1, I have installed first AD. On 2nd
site, I have installed another DC but it did not ask for DNS installation
during dcpromo. But server in 2nd site has its DNS point to DC in 1st site.
Should I setup secondary DNS in site2 so that all PC clients will have their
DNS pointing to site2 DNS? Or is there better way of doing it? After this, I
would want to configure AD sites and services.

Thanks,
aziz

Hi Aziz,

Yes, it would be a good idea to make the DC also a DNS server and to
make both DNS servers AD Integrated. If the DC is not too loaded, make
it a Global Catalog and install DHCP if you use DHCP too. This way all
Win 2000 clients will use the local DC for DNS, IP and logon.

I would like to have GC in both site1 and site2. Right now, site2 GC is not
enabled. Is it ok to enable it without affecting Site1 GC?

Thanks,

Yes. You could make all DCs GCs if you wanted to! However, unless you
have only one or two at each site, it would not be a good idea to make
them *all* GCs. One at each site would be about right.

Cheers,

Cliff
