Adding USB.v.2

The Compaq Presario 7000 missed USB.v.2 by a matter of
weeks, thus was configured with front and rear panel USB.v.1
jacks and 1394 (firewire) jacks that remain unused. I could
remove the 1394 card and instal a USB.v.2 card -- but what
would that do to the front USB jacks? Would the "enhanced USB
controller" (under WinXP SP2) speed up all USB channels
to v.2 function or would the original jacks (wired to the MB) remain slow?

Only the jacks on the added USB2 card would work as USB 2. (enhanced). The
front panel jacks and the original rear panel jacks would continue to work
as USB 1. Actually there is no need to give up the firewire ports as there
are cards made that have both USB2 and firewire ports on them at relatively
cheap prices.

but some USB 2 cards have internal connectors where you could hook
up the front panel USB connectors by moving them from the Mobo to the Card
