adding two mail boxs in one exchage in Outlook 2003

Hi,

I need to be able to add more than one mail box when using exchange server.
We are using a hosted exchage service and they tell me it can't be done in
outlook 2003 even though there is an option for it in the settings.

Is this true or is there a way to do it?

my email is (e-mail address removed) and I also want to get mail sent to
(e-mail address removed). These should be split in to two folder lists.

In Tools | E-mail Accounts, bring up the properties for the Exchange account and switch to the Advanced tab. That's where you would add the name of the second mailbox.

I have done that but I get an error, do you need to be using the same
password for both accounts?

Thanks

Your main account needs to be granted permissions either at the mailbox level or the folder level for the second account.

Hi, I get this error message,

"This error usually appears if the OST or PST file you are using is:
Unavailable
Protected with file permissions
On a share on a server and the network is down
Corrupt
To correct this problem, store the OST or PST file on the local computer."

What setting do I need to ask the host to change to let me do this? They
said that you could not do it in Outlook 2003.

Thanks
Luke

This error message has nothing to do with adding a secondary mail account to your mail profile. I think you need to solve that problem first, before trying to add a secondary mail account. What are your settings in the Exchange account for Cached Exchange mode and the location of the .ost file? Have you tried creating a new mail profile?

If I just run the one mail account it works fine.
It only error's when I add the second account to the main one.

Is there a setting that needs to be changed at the hosts end?
From what I could find out on the net I would have to let both the main
account and the second one share each other. Is that right? If so is that a
server side thing or something you can do in outlook.

Thanks

Both the administrator and the user-owner of that mailbox can grant the necessary permissions. Since your host provider doesn't seem to be interested in helping with this, have you contacted the user whose mailbox you want to access? They need to grant you at least Folder Visible permission on the mailbox root and other permissions on the folders they want you to see.

Please answer my question about your account setup.

Hi,

They are both my accounts. I don't have access to be able to add the
permissions in that way. So as far as Outlook works it can share two or more
exchange mailboxs?

Thanks for all this help )

The host is giving me a a 60 free trial, if they can't help me and you say
it can be done then I will not be going with them.

Thanks
Luke

Are you saying that when you bring up the Properties dialog for a folder, you have no Permissions tab?

Hi, no the host has it's own web interface for me. I can't see the desktop of
the server at all.

If I could, would I be able to share mail boxs in this way?

Thanks

Hi,

I can't see the desktop of the server, I only have the hosts own web
interface with very few controls. If I could see the desktop are you saying
that it would work in the way I want it to?

Thanks
Luke

Who said anything about the desktop of the server? I was referring to the mailbox folders that you see in Outlook. You do have a mail profile to access that other account in Outlook, don't you?
