Adding slides to a running slide show

Can I run a slide show on one computer and add slides to the slide show on
another computer? I want to use Powerpoint at an event. One computer will
continually be showing announcements. But I need to continully create new
announcements without stopping ths slide show. Can I have a running slide
show get updated versions of the presentation without stopping the slide show?

This can be done on a networked computer, but it is a complicated set-up.
You may want to look at one of the professional programs to do this for you.

If you want to set it up manually...

First, set up a 'show computer' and 'edit computer' on a network.

Second set-up a PowerPoint to run on the 'show computer'
this show should have a presentation that loops (MainLoop.ppt)
this loop should have some basic slides that will not change
('Welcome to the civic center' type stuff).
It should link to a second show (Changeable.ppt).
this second show will be called at a certain point in the
presentation, run and close
it should contain the changeable slides ('October sales event')

Third, set up an 'edit computer' on the network
Build the changeable slides on this computer
When done with the updates, move this file to the Show computer under
another name (Update.ppt)
While still on the edit computer...
Change the file name on the 'show computer' to the (Changeable.ppt)
If the presentation is using Changeable.ppt at that moment, you will
get a 'File in use' error.
Continue to attempt to rename the file until you are allowed

Thank you for the information. This appears to work. But I may not have the
best "link" between presentations. The only way I see to link presentations
is to hyperlink them. In that way, the running slideshow has a page with a
clickable hyperlink to the changeable presentation. Is there a way to make it
so the link just steps from one slide (in the main presentation) to the first
slide in the changeable presentation and then return to the next slide in the
main presentation after the last slide of the changeable presentation?
