Adding SATA Hard Drives

I running XP Pro with SP1. Must I install SP2 to

No, you dont have to, but it can simplify things, just because it has
better drivers for SATA hard drives so you dont need to load the
motherboard manufacturer's SATA drivers with some systems.

No,Installing a Sata drive has nothing to do with the operating system
you use.It's purely hardware.
