Adding Music to PP Presentation

I have a PP presentation in which I want to add two songs. I enter the first
song on the first slide, using "Insert", Movies and Sounds," "Sound from
File" then click on the song file I want.

Then under slide transition, I click on "automatic after" and then set the
number of seconds for each slide.

When I now play the slide show, I cannot get past the first slide. Nothing
is automatic. The music plays however the slides do not advance even with a
mouse click. I have not even tried to get the second song going. If I remove
the sound file, every thing works fine.

Any advice would be appreciated. I am not the most technical person so it
would help if any advice was in simple English.

Double click on the play effect in Custom Animation.
Under Start playing, change to "From last position". Will that work?

You will need to change the "stop playing" setting

In custom animation > effect options change stop playing to "after x slides
" (x is number of slides you have) If you dont the slide transistion will
wait for the music to end.

tohlz and wilson...

I have tried do both of what you have offered and I cannot find the things
you both mention. In tohlz's suggestion, I cannot find the "play effect"
When I go to custom animation, i.e. "slide show, custom animation" the task
pane has no active links and nothing that states start playing.

In John's suggestion, I can find "modify options" which I assume is what you
meant however there is nothing that states stop playing after x slides.

I have windows xp, professional edition, and PP 2003. I also have a CD that
was given to me some time ago with a pp presentation including some 5
different songs on it and it works perfectly.

So I am still confused. Thanks so much for trying and if you have any
additional ideas, I surely would appreciate them.

Hi,
Click Slide Show > Custom Animation.
This will bring up the custom animation pane.
If you have inserted a sound through (Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound
from file), you will see a "play effect". Did you?
If yes, double click on it. This will bring up the effect options, where you
can continue from there.
