I want to add more memory. Can anybody tell me where I
can find out how much memory my computer can hold? the
memory type? do I need to know hard drive size? I have a
gateway 500 se intel pentim 4 xp home. Thanks

I just finished helping a neighbor upgrade the same machine. Gateway
500SE P4. The Gateway info gives this as a PC266. There is no such animal at
Crucial.
I emailed Crucial the Serial # and they said its actually a PC 2100.
I would suggest that you email help at Crucial or call them. Give them
the Gateway 500SE and the Serial #. They will tell you what memory to
purchase.

After you find out how much memory you can use, write down the memory
chip information of the memory chip you now have. Then purchase the
same. This works every time. Too many people go out and buy some "cheap"
brand and find it doesn't work. You know the brand you have works so why
switch. :-)
