Adding Memory

I have tried to add an additional 256K of memory to my Toshiba laptop which
came with 256K memory. When the new module is added, the laptop hangs just
after displaying the loading Windows screen. The laptop will boot with
either module singularly installed, but not with both installed and it does
not matter which slot the module is installed in. The laptop will boot up
with both modules installed in safe mode only. Does anyone know who to
resolve this? I ordered the new memory module form Toshiba - it is a
Kingston, not sure what the orginal module is.

I'd go back to Toshiba.
the modules may need to be a matched pair so they need to give you an
identical match to the original module or you need to buy a pair and remove
the original.
