Adding IIS to XP Prof

M

Mark Harrison

Hi,

Can anyone advise what I can do about a problem I'm having when I try to
install IIS on my PC?

The Windows Install Wizard starts the instal, then says "Some files on
Windows XP Pro Service Pack 1 CD are needed". The trouble is that I don't
have such a CD. I seem to recall that SP1 was a download from MS and the
wizard is looking for the following:
d:\xpsp1_en_x86\i386\infocomm.dll
which doesn't exist on my hard drive

In my "add/remove programs" it shows that I have a number of SP2 components
but no SP1.

What do I Do?

When you add Windows component to Windows XP with SP1 installed,
setup prompts you for the SP1 CD-ROM or the I386 folder?

Hi Carey,

I went to your suggested link.
The first line of the workaround is where I come unstuck:

"The proper way to set up the distribution folder is: (This example assumes
that you downloaded xpsp1.exe to C:\WinXPSP)"

I've searched the entire hard drive but there is no xpsp1.exe file. The
closest file I found was xpsp1hfm.exe.

Will it work with this one?

When you install IIS place your windows xp cd in the tray. It should try and
run for a bit then It will ask for the ask for the sp1 CD, as you have
said.Browse to C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386 leaving the XP CD in the
tray it will then continue on and install IIS
