Adding icons to the idle desktop screen

Hi everyone,

I can manage to pin and unpin icons to the start menu but i can't find the
option to add them to the desktop....i only have 5 icons on it and i am
having to constantly go through the start menu, can anyone help me with this!

Open your Start Menu, place the cursor arrow over the folder icon
you wish to have on your desktop, press the left mouse button
and at the same time drag the icon to the Desktop.
