Adding HTML...Can I do this?

Yup...another question!
I want to add the javascript to my page to "bookmark this site."
However, I have spent hours creating all of my own hyperlinked text with a
specific format. Each link has a dot at the beginning and end of text. Can
I insert these dots into html code? Or will I be able to add them after
inserting the code?
(Unfortunately, I'm doing the research at work, and can't try it out in
advance...)

Will html recognise my little dots?!?!?!

http://www.steelbanana.com (I want it to go into the top right corner
beneath "contact us."

Thanks!

I'm an idiot!
I found a site with code where I create the text to link to, and then edit
the href.
The code would be:
javascript:bookmarksite('Title_of_site','URL_of_site')
I'm supposed to insert that into the href field-thing.

If my head explodes, and I can't make it work, I'll be back!!!

If you really wanna get fancy you can make those dots graphics...like little steel balls on the ends of nipple rings....that might look cool.
