Adding Custom Naviation Page Item

Is there any way to add a custom navigation pane button/item to the
default list (Mail, Calendar, Contacts, etc.).
 
No.

you may be able to add a regular toolbar button for it- customize the
toolbar and add a hyperlink, otherwise, you'll need to use the Shortcut
Navigation pane.
