I am using the standard windows logon. I am try to run a scan disk at start
up but when I enter the commands in KB218461, I get an error message that
says that they are not avaiable. How can I get them into my image?

Thanks

Tim. in the spirit of "Teach a man how to fish and he'll eat for ever" I will
show you how to find your answer.

In TD go to "Tools > Options > Advanced"
Lower your visability to "100" and click "OK"
Create a "Filter" to search for (in your case) chkdsk.exe.
To do that open "Filter Manager" and click "New" and give your filter a
name.
Double Click "Component contain the following File <filelist> then Double
Clck where it actually says "Double Click" and enter what your looking for
(in your case) chkdsk.exe )
Now click "Apply Filter"

You should get back with the name of the component that has that file in it,
then add that component to your build.

Hope that helps you.

Cheers!

Thanks. I found it!!!!

Now I need to know if I can display the results of the check disk ater the
reboot?

That's the same on all XP machines. I think it's in the Event Log, and
somewhere else that I can't remember right now. Anyway the results are logged
somewhere.

Tim,

A quote from MS knowledgebase:

"When Autochk runs against a volume at boot time it records its output to a file called Bootex.log in the root of the volume being
checked. The Winlogon service then moves the contents of each Bootex.log file to the Application Event log. One event log message
for each volume checked is recorded as follows:
Event ID: 1001
Source: Winlogon
Description: This includes file system type; drive letter or GUID, and volume name or serial number to help determine what
volume Chkdsk ran against.
Also included is whether Chkdsk ran because a user scheduled it or because the dirty bit was set."

Note that the \bootex.log file will only be there if chkdsk encounter errors at the boot time. If there is no bootex.log, then XPe
did not find any disk errors.

Hope this helps.
