At our school organization, we run approx. 16 computers running Windows 98
SE, connected to a Windows NT 4.0 Server. We recently aquired a new system,
and we are using to to test the possibility of adding an XP computer on the
network. If we're successful, then we may upgrade all of our computers to
Windows XP. The new computer is running Windows XP Pro SP2, and we have it
hooked up to the network, and can access the internet. However, we can not
get it setup to network with out NT server and allow us to login with our
usernames and passwords. We have searched for a tutorial on how to get this
working, and the only one we've found that has helped somewhat is this one:
http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/wxpjoind.html

But it's still not working. Can you point us in the right direction to a
tutorial that can help us, or give us a step by step tutorial on how to get
this working? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Alex Lilly

Give us a step in the right direction and tell us exactly why it isn't working.
Do you get an error message? Have you joined it to the domain?

I'll really have to write back on this when I'm at school, but we've added it
to our Domain "CADREII", and it's saying it cant find it.

Just offhand, have you added the local lan in the firewall exceptions as
trusted? XP SP2 automatically enables the Windows Firewall. Adjust its
settings from the Windows Firewall applet in Control Panel.
