Adding a Shortcut to the Programs menu

Shane

Greetings,
Just got a new system and find that some of the programs in my Program Files
folder don't have matching folders or shortcuts on the Progams menu (I use
"Classic" view).

Can't seem to find info on how to add a shortcut to the Programs menu. I
tried right-clicking to select 'Add shortcut' but it had highlighted one and
copied that (editing it left the original icon).

So... how does one add folders and shortcuts to the Programs menu?

Thanks,

Shane

Create it on the Desktop, Drag and drop it in the Start Menu, (pause on
the start button, pause on Program, drop it where desired)

There's more than one way to this. I'll describe the one that lets you best
understand what happens. In My Computer, navigate to the folder C:\Documents
and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs (or change "All Users" to a
specific user name if that's what you want). That's the folder that contains
the shortcuts you see when you click Start | All Programs.

Leave that folder open, and open My Computer a second time. Navigate to the
exe file for a program you want on the Start Menu. Right-drag that exe file
to the other open My Comnputer window. When you let go of the right mouse
button, choose the option "Create shortcut here."

Repeat as necessary for other shortcuts you want there.

Bob,
I KNEW it HAD to be something simple... one of the problems with not
upgrading but every few years: You don't remember how to put back all your
old customizations!

Thanks,
