Has anyone got a solution to the matter of Windows Scheduled Task
error message:

"0x8007007a: The data area passed to a system call is too small".

I'm looking for a solution other than those offered at:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=246865
http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBM/tip6200/rh6272.htm

I'm using XP with IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633. Upgrading from
IE 5.01 will not do because I'm not using IE 5.01. I have run the
StopStartTaskScheduler.bat batch file and waited the requisite 15
minutes more than once, even waiting hours. As far as I can tell I
have no tasks scheduled using Windows Scheduled Tasks.

McAfee (the vendor program I'm trying to schedule) and Dell (the pc
vendor) have not been able to help me. I've researched this matter a
few times but I always come back to those two links. Has anyone seen
some other link on this matter?

Thanks,

Has anything come up about Task Scheduler problems that are not related to the "0x8007007a" message, or user account passwords or permissions? I have checked all the things suggested in KB 264522 and KB 246865 and searched the KB for anything else but have not found anything that looks helpful

I have not been able to get Task Scheduler to run anything I have set up for it, even though I am running the job in a passworded account. The Scheduler simply does nothing - no error messages, no log entries, nothing. The service is running and all parameters appear normal

If I create a test task to run "calc.exe", the task does not run. If I then select the task and explicitly order the system to run it, it DOES run, and a record of this is put in the scheduler logfile

I was wondering, since the Task Scheduler service depends on the RPC service (which is also running correctly, BTW), is it possible that Norton Internet Security is blocking the process? I seem to recall the RPC being a target for some nasty thing or other a while back

Running WinXP Pro Version 2002 SP1. I have IE 6.0, not 5.01 so that isn't the problem.
