Adding a Percentage to a Number (EXCEL 2003)

Hello,

I think I did not explain myself very welll in my first question.

I want to add a percentage like 10% to number in column A1
I want to show the total in column A4 - however the formula shows in the A4
field everytime I put my curser over it. I want to hide the formula and show
only the total in column A4 because I do not want my customers to see how
much of a precentage is being added to A1

A1 A2 A3 A4
___________________________
50 | | 10% | 55 | I need to copy this total to
another field not
_____|______|______|_______ | showing the formula below.
50 | | 10% |=A1*1.1 |
_____|______|______| _______| <---- I want to hide this.

Hi,
In the cell or cells, choose Format cells/Protectction Hide. You can
highlight the entire sheet and do this and the formulas will not show.
Use a Password and it is not possible to change this without the
password.

Hi,

I think I'm missing something here:

1. You have 10% sitting in cell A3, if that is the percent you are using
your formula in A4 should be =A1*A3+A1 or =A1*(1+A3)
2. You're user can see the 10% even if you hide the formula in A4?
3. Even if you took out the 10% in A3, all a user needs to do is calculate
the percent for themselves: A4/A1-1= A3

In other words besides hiding the formula you also need to hide rows 1 and
3. And then turn worksheet protection on.
