adding a KB with "hot keys"

I recently added a Firefly Borealis illuminated keyboard (hardware) to my
system. I loaded in the included driver (CD) and get a message that
"mHotkey.exe has encountered a problem and must close (etc.)".
the result is that, though the KB works, the hot key functions do not ...
excepting the standby or shut down hot key. I've uninstalled & then
re-installed the drivers to no avail.
anyone know how I can get this KB to work properly with my system?
thanks!

Have you checked with keyboard manufacture tech support? Perhaps they
have a new driver that is compatible or have seen this issue before?

As with most hardware drivers included in the hardware kit, you need
to check for updated drivers.

"Q: Do I have to load the keyboard driver?

A: No generally not. Most versions of Windows OS, particularly the later
ones, provide full multimedia functionality without having to load the
FireFly driver, but if an early version of Windows OS is being used
that does not allow complete multimedia functionality, loading the
FireFly driver will overcome this to give full use of the multimedia
hotkeys provided with the FireFly Borealis keyboard. Click here for
driver download.
