Hi Kevin,

Well if component is ok just import it by using Component Database Manager.

kevin,

You should get more familiar with the XPe Tools like CD and XPe Repository. These two links will help you:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/xpehelp/html/xehowHowToComponentizeApplications.asp
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/xpehelp/html/dbconManagingRepositories.asp

Regarding the component... Someone who created the it assumed that the files are under default (main) XPe repository. Well... That
was not a good assumption but I suspect one of the reasons behind that decision was to not re-distribute the 3rd party app/driver
binaries (may be of some legal concern for many of us).

Anyway, you can definitely fix this by downloading the driver package from Microtouch website: http://www.3m.com/3mtouchsystems.
Then you expand the driver package to the directory where the SLD file is located.

Add a Repository to the component and assign the component to the created repository. To do that please do not forget to un-release
the component in SLD (Update Component menu option for the component node).
When you import the component via CDM, make sure to set "Copy repository files to repository root" option.

Learn here how to create your own components http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/xpehelp/html/xeconStep1CreateComponent.asp.

well, as I stated in the original post, I have imported it into the DB, so
if the files can't be found in when it is brought into TD, the component is
no good, or do I need to direct TD where to find them?

You will have to modify component in CD and see where it expect files.
Follow instructions provided by Konstantin.

Slobodan
