Addin Error Message

I have both A2000 & A2003 on my pc and I seem to be having a problem with the
addins on the 2003 version. I can access and load addins using the 2000
version but when I try to use the addins on the 2003 version I get an error
message "Subscript out of range". Anyone have any idea what might be causing
this?

Do a Google Access groups search on "public.access" "add-ins" "subscript". I found ten
responses to this issue, all with slightly different suggestions, but worth checking out
first. There are also some "expirements" you can try.
Also, during this trouble shooting... set the 2003 Tools/Macros/Security to Low.

Hi Al,

I did a search and didn't find anything. Can you give me a couple of
examples you found? All I found was database splitting problems and report
wizard problems with that error message. I found nothing for add-in problems.

I must have been doing something wrong when I did my search. I didn't see any

I take it you found them... via Joan Wild... Get back, yea or nay, after you've had a
chance to wring out those suggestions.

Well most of them just said to find the DAO360.dll file and run the regsvr32.
I did that and still nothing. Why would it work find on my 2000 version?
Do they use different files for the add-ins?
 
Yes I did that as well. And all add ins fail the same way. I can't even
select any add ins.

I have to ask... you do mean "Add-ins" and not Datbase Utilities?
Have you tried creating a blank mdb file and importing all your items into it. That
might by pass a corrrupted database.

I have no other ideas except reinstallation of 2003... or even a de-install of both
2000 and 2003, and re-installing 2003 first, then 2000. I don't like to suggest that
without knowing if that will work or not, but you may be at the "Any old port in a
storm..." point.
On my sysytem, whenever I run 2000, and then 2003, the 2003 Linked Table manager fails,
and I have to re-register ACCWIZ.DLL. (that is a known problem)

I searched the web and couldn't find anything related to your specific problem with the
add-ins.
Please check those previous ng posts again to make sure you didn't miss any suggestions
previously submitted. (I have to ask that too...)

**AND...
Please feel free to start a New post. This one is gaetting a bit "buried"...
Try to explain in detail what you've done so far, and include the names of the
"add-ins" that your using.

Also, check this thread again for a few days... perhaps someone else will still jump in
on this one.

I'm stumped... sorry.

I mean "Add-ins". I tried just about everything at this point. I tried to
create a new blank file but that didn't work.
I just removed all my office versions and tried again and still nothing. I
guess at this point I'm going to throw in the
towel. I appreciate all your help with this. Hopefully someday I will find
the problem. I'll keep looking though.

Let me run this by the other MVPs... Perhaps some of them didn't see the post.

I suspect 2K... there have always been weird effects that 2K has with other versions.
So, let's try to get 2003 operating first... with no 2K.
Remove 2003 normally.
Take a look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/203370/ It show how to "completely"
remove 2K. Which you say have already done... BUT also run Eraser2K.exe
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239938 to make sure nothing is left of 2K at all.
Then try 2003 install again, and even try a different directory than before.

In the meantime, I will try to call out the troops.

Please indicate what add-ins you are trying to use.
Also, you now mentioned "Office". Please do a search in the MS Knowledge base to see
if there are any instructions on how to "Completely" remove your office versions. There
may be files, or registry entries hanging on that are interfering with 2003.

The strange thing is it was working before. I don't know how long ago but I
do know it
worked at one point. Even with A2000 installed. I can't install 2003 without
installing 2000
first since my version of 2003 is an upgrade. What I tried last night was
uninstalled office 2003 and access 2000.
Then I reinstalled office 2000 first and then office 2003. During the
installation of 2003 I chose to keep only access 2000 installed on my
computer by completely remove
all other programs. If you think I should still try what you metioned
below then I will give it a try. Thanks for your continued help.

I placed a note on the MVP private group. Hopefuly it may generate some additional
thoughts.
By the by, I've heard that if you want to install the 2003 upgrade without 2000
installed, just slip your 2K install disk when the system says "I can't find the requisite
files for the upgrade... would you like me to look somewhere else?" Your 2000 install
disk should have the file MS needs to OK the "upgrade".
Haven't tested that, but heard it from several folks.
Hang on... we may yet find the problem. And I think your doing a good job putting in
the "sweat equity" it may take to solve this odd problem.

This is the only reply from the Access MVPs at this time...
This might not be the solution, but I remember a couple years back I had a
problem with the add-in manager. I deleted the file Acwztool.mde and then
ran a repair to re-install it. Everything cleared up.

I tried what you said but still nothing. What does "Subscript out of range"
mean anyways?

It pertains to arrays. If you had an array with xyz(10) elements, and tried to
reference xyz(11), a Subscript error would occur.

By the by... you never did say what add-ins you are trying to use...

BUT... I got to thinking... there's a good chance this "might" be a "reference"
problem. Go to any module, and check the References. Are any "Missing"?
Reference problems can pop up with weird messages.
