Added site to zone, site dissapeared, but still in zone

I added a "trusted site" to my "Trusted Sites" Zone. It worked fine. However,
when I look in Tools>Internet Options>Security Tab>Trusted Sites, it says "no
sites are in this zone" - it is empty. Yet whenever I access the site, it is
still labeled as a trusted site. I would like to remove it, but I do not have
the option available.

I have tried closing everything and restarting, adding and removing other
sites, clearing the cache, and attempting to add the site again (it won't
allow me to). IE and XP are both updated. The site I refer to is
scottrade.com. I have not made any changes to software or hardware, and this
all happened immediately after I added the site.

Do you have a solution to this odd problem?

Thanks for reading.

The URL entries you make to security zones are recorded in these registry
keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\ZoneMap\Domains

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\ZoneMap\Domains

You could try deleting them, and entering them again.

If you are on a network and use a .ins file or some other automatic config
script when you log on, it could be over-writing that part of the registry,
as could a Group Policy. See these articles for possible help:

Jon, thank you for responding! I appreciate your help. I tried the options
you presented and have more information to share:

- The registry keys did not show any URL entries at the locations you provided
- I am not on a network.
- Although the site has dissapeared from the list (and from the registry
key), it still remains a trusted site for all practical purposes. Everytime I
visit the URL it says it is a trusted site and treats it that way. So it
hasn't been overwritten, it's been hidden.
- The correct syntax was used: http://208.219.220.136
- The knowledge base articles were generally related and educational, but I
could not find a solution to this problem there. I also am searching more of
the knowledge base and posting here for additional support.

I really do appreciate your help, and I will try any other ideas as well.
Please share your ideas or solutions with me.

Thanks!

Bobby,

Check here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\ZoneMap\Ranges

Use the Find option to locate the "data" containing the string
"208.219.220.136"

Yes. There I found the string and deleted the value (not the key), and I no
longer have the problem. Thank you.
