Add the feature of deleting the document while the same is open

What you are referring to is imposed by the OS, not by the application. I
know of no OS that permits deletion of files while they are in use and, IMHO,
that is how it should be. The ability to close the file and simply delete it
from the Open or Save As dialog boxes without having to quit the program is
convenient enough for most users.

Another 'feature' that provides even more opportunity for people to
inadvertently dispose of their work is something that no program needs.

Well apart from the fact that I never *knowingly* throw
anything I've written away (I've still got Appleworks files
that I ported over to MS-DOS before my Apple //s died), a
"feature" like this sounds like a very dangerous buzz-saw.
While it may incorporate file-management functions, a word
processor is not a file manager and should not make it easy
for users to lose their work.

I'm not saying it is a feature I would want. You just asked what it could be
used for. The use I proposed could easily be avoided by good document naming
practices. I seldom need to open a document to tell what it contains.
