Add/Remove Windows Components

Win XP Home SP1.

I want to remove a Windows component. When I open the Windows
Components Wizard, the instruction says "To add or remove a component,
click the checkbox."

This looks like English, but it is not.

Do I click to add or to remove?
What happens to the components that are already checked? will they be
removed too?
Should I uncheck the components that I don't want removed?

Don't blame me for any damage that your computer incurs when testing
these options to satisfy your own curiosity.

Checkmark = installed or to be installed
No checkmark = not installed or to be uninstalled.
