Add Remove Programs

Can someone tell me how to remove instances of programs that have been
removed but are still visible in Add and Remove Programs list.

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Each subkey of this branch represents an installed program. Locate the
subkey in question, right click it and select Export. This creates a backup
that can be re-imported if you find you've made an error. Then right click
the key again and select Delete.
