Add/remove programs

when i click on the add/remove icon in control panel...nothing happens,
everything else in there works. I need to uninstall some programs in order to
update my computer, but unfortunately am unable to. Anyone got a fix for this?
 
Try tapping the F8 key on startup or restart,select safe mode,enter xp as
administrator,edit add/remove.
