Add Remove Programs will not open

Dear Forum, I am really stumpped. I have recently been
bit bit the ever present Add-Ware family of viruses.
(Looking for information about a video game). Now I have
a program called AutoUpdate.exe running that is
installing al kinds of ad wares to my system. I delete
it over and over with McAfee but it just keeps coming
back lke a bad STD. I tried to look for suspicious
programs in my "Add Remove Programs" folder in
Start->Control Panel->Add Remove Programs and it wont
open, all other apps in the folder open fine but when i
double click or even right click and click "open" the is
no response at all. This is very troubling and I am
hoping that someone else here has seen this and can help.
Help me Windows news group you're my only hope!

Hi Bob,

There are a number of Spyware/Addware removal tools available on the
internet:

-Spybot Search & Destroy
-Spywareblaster & Spywareguard (from same site)
-Ad-aware

These are all free. Just Google for them.

Regards,
Nathan

Hi

I have the 1st and 3rd installed and they work perfectly.
No trouble since! Also, take a look at ZoneAlarm (free
version is good enough) at www.zonealarm.com or something.
If not, Google (as always) will help you :)

Matt.
