Hi There,

I was wondering whether there is a solution to this problem.

Recently I tried to upgrade my XP Home Edition to XP Pro. But part way
thru install the PC would just continuely reboot itself. I tried to
repair thru recovery console but was having no joy there.

I was reluctant to do a clean install as I was worried that the
contents on 'My Documents' would be deleted. I was assured by a
collegue this wouldn't be the case, they'd just get moved elsewhere. So
I went ahead and did a clean install keeping in tact the directory
structure. Now the biggest problem doing that was the new operating
system XP pro no longer recognises any installed software which is
obviously still on the HD.

Is there a way to somehow tweak the system to re-add these without
reinstalling the whole lot. Any utilities around?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Best bet is to install the new OS you want to use totally fresh, and NOT
upgrade your old OS to fix niggles.
