Add printer problem - Nothing happens

I have a winxp pro and can`t add a local or network printer.
Map drives are working, when I browse for network printers I can see
them but when I double-click on them for installation, nothing happens.
Same thing if I go through the control pannel and try to add a
printer, nothing. No error message, no wizard, sweet nothing!
I`ve tried a registry cleaner, spyware scanner, reinstall spooler file,
I am logged as administrator.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Yes sir... I've tried to stop and restart the service (even if a
reboot is doing it)...
Since i've got no solution yet I will try to repair the windows,
meanwhile if somebody have an idea I'm very curious about that problem.
