add more colors to the highlighter dropdown box

Is there a way to add more color choices to the text highlighting drop down
box, or swap some colors for others?
 
No. The colours you see are all that are available.

As an alternative, you can format text with shading from Format > Borders
and Shading. The visible effect is the same (although there are some
differences in behaviour)
