Add in error

I recently removed ACT from my system, but every time I open Outlook (2007) I
get the following error.

The addin ACT! extensions(c:windows\system32\Act9ext.dll) cannot be loaded
and has been disabled by outlook. Please uninstall the Add in.

I can't see it in the Addin section and after trawling this forum I found a
message that said find the extend.dat file and rename it extend.old. I did
this and it got rid of one of the other errors I was getting, but not this
one.

Can anyone help

its not in the list of addins in the trust center or in the disabled addins
that display after choosing disabled addins from the dropdown on the trust
center addins page?

No where to be seen but whilst double checking I looked in 'exchange client
extensions ' and there was an 'Act extensions' line there, that was checked.
I unchecked it and that seems to have sorted it. Does that make sense as the
problem?

Yes it does make sense. There are two types of addins - COM and Exchange
client extensions - and you need to check in exchange client ext if its not
in com addins. :)

message from appearing. However I would love to know is how to stop it
appearing in the Add-in Manager especially as I thought I'd deleted it
from Outlook Addins Registry Key too.

Any ideas?

I also have the exact same problem and do NOT have Visual Studio
loaded on my laptop. Is there any way to manage/disable/uninstall add-
ins like the ACT one within the Office Administrative tools or
operating system tools found in Microsoft XP [Version 5.1.2600] and/or
Microsoft Office 2007?

Not sure why you need VS installed to uninstall addins... if they are not
listed in Add/Remove programs, you can disable it in Trust Center's Addins
section - the dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen has COM addins and
Exchange extensions - some addins are under COM, some under Exchange
Extensions.

The addins that load are listed in
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\

LoadBehavior of 2 means it won't load.
