Error Message

Recently, whenever I open MS Outlook 2003, I get the error message
"C:\\Users\Sidney\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Addins\wfoladin.dll is not a
valid Add-in: I also get this error message when I open
my Add-Aware security program. I tried to find this .dll on my hard drive
but no luck.

Can someone help me get rid of this message? TIA.

Remove it from your Outlook Add Ins. Outlook\Options\Other\General\Advanced
Options\Add Ins

Thanks for your reply Peter,

In following your instructions, I found two add-in sections. The first was
titled "Add-In Manager" and in it were:
1. Outlook Sync
2. AVG Exchange Extension
3. Google Desktop Search Outlook Add-Ins
4. Exchange Extensions Property Pages
In the second section the title was "Com Add-Ins" in it were:
1. Ad-Aware Email Scanner ( the error msg. also showed when I
opened Ad-Aware)
2. Outlook Syncronization

When I clicked on Com Add-Inns I got the error msg. in question. So, I
unchecked the two items in this section and reebooted
my computer. Unfortunately I got the same error msg. when opening Outlook.
Can you think of any other fixes?

What happens if you uncheck the Google Desktop Search and the Ad-Aware email scanner
and close out from Outlook. The open outlook and tell me if the error still shows

That's a DLL from WinFAX Pro. See this:

Also, with Outlook closed, try deleting the (usually hidden) file
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook\extend.dat. Then restart Outlook.

Hi Brad and Peter, thanks for your responses.

I "removed" winfax pro from my computer months befor this message started
popping up. Also, I have searched my HD and Registry for this "hidden file"
and couldn't find it. I've unchecked As-Aware add-in as well as
the Google Desktop search that Peter suggested but no luck. I also tried to
follow the link from MS Support and still could not find Wfoladin.dll. Any
other ideas?

Hi Brad and Peter,

I went to my registry again and this time only entered " wfoladin" in
search. I found "wfoladin.clswfo;adin". I added ".old" to the name and
restarted my computer. After starting Outlook I got the same error message
as before. Brad, I could not find an "lookin list"
or a "patch.exe". I'm using a Vista Home Premium OS; does this make a
difference?

Because you have not enabled viewing hidden files and folders. Open Windows
Explorer. In the Address field, enter

%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook

Press Enter. You will see extend.dat there. Delete it.

Hi Brad and Peter,

Yesterday I went to my registry, and per one of the options on the Microsoft
link you gave me Brad, I changed ...foladin.dll
to foladin.old. That did not work. This morning, on a hunch, I went back
to the registry and deleted foladin.old. It worked!!
