Hello.
I want to add a second DC(W2003) to my W2000 DC. I have
prepared my W2000 to do this stuff, but when I try to
install Active Directory it say it can't find the domain.
I have a simple hub working correctly and the both
computer connected to it. The second DC has an static IP.
What can goes wrong??
Thanks

What is your DNS setup ? Are all your servers pointing to your internal DNS
server ? Run dcdiag and netdiag on your DC to see if there is any problem
with your domain....

Hello.
Thanks for the answer.
This the message I receive when I try to install AD using
dcpromo in my W2003 server.

The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the
service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a
domain controller for domain nwtraders.msft:

The error was: "This operation returned because the
timeout period expired."
(error code 0x000005B4 ERROR_TIMEOUT)

The query was for the SRV record for
_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.nwtraders.msft

The DNS servers used by this computer for name resolution
are not responding. This computer is configured to use
DNS servers with the following IP addresses:

192.168.0.1

Verify that this computer is connected to the network,
that these are the correct DNS server IP addresses, and
that at least one of the DNS servers is running.

THIS IS my ipconfig /all in W2003 Server

Hi David,

This article discusses how to upgrade Windows 2000 domain controllers to
Windows Server 2003 and how to add new Windows Server 2003 domain
controllers to Windows 2000 domains

Hope this will resolve your problem.
