Adaware SE/Win95

Has anyone tried to use adaware SE on a Windows 95 box? Can this be done?
According to the Lavasoft Adaware webpage, SE runs on 98 or greater but I
wonder if it will also work on 95.thanks, He2
p.s. I've found that many programs that supposedly only work on =>98
also run under 95 e.g. Netscape v. 4.7, Suneido db. etc.

That is frequently because the publisher doesn't want to go to the expense
(and it IS expensive) of testing/debugging their app with an OS of limited
future and limited economic value (compared to the other OSes). They would
rather spend their testing money in a way that maximizes the marketability
their own software. You are already seeing less testing for WIN98 happening
and you will shortly see less testing for WinME. And already, some newer
Windows Apps have only been tested for WinXP.

That being said, a well written app for Win98 and WinMe, should run
reasonably well for Win95 unless it uses features/code just not included in
Win95. But don't expect the same level of compatibility between XP and the
older Win OSes - there is just too big a difference in the two product
lines.

I don't know about SE but other versions of adaware run fine on Win95.
A lot of programs are listed as working on 98 and greater but that's
because microsoft stopped supporting 95. Soon, you will no longer see
98 listed...
In my experience, most programs listed as working on 98 or above also
run on 95 as long as the 95 system has updated drivers, dlls, etc.,
that the program might be using..

I've used adaware6 for a long time on a 95 box. the only problem that I've
encountered is that I'm no longer able to update the reflist automatically.
I get a message that my version is not supported (sorry, but I can't remember
the exact phrase used.) I found a way around this problem by downloading reflist.zip
and unzipping it myself. The program works even though I manually installed the new
reflist. (I've done this for more than 1 year.) So I think I'll d/l SE and see
if it work on my box even though 95 ain't supported by lavasoft.
thanks for your help, He2
