FYI:

AdAware 2007 is now Vista compatible.
However, if you have DEP set to opt out, you must add AdAware as an
exclusion.

Way better then the lowly BitDefender but still a huge file at 18MB.
Bloatware. Spybot is just as good, if not better, without annoying upgrade
options. Spybot will immunize too. Either way they both leave BitDefender
for dead.

I've not bothered to use Spybot or AdAware for years now, as they never find
anything.

Just use an up to date HOSTS file, like this one:
http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/

I also sometimes use this very good online malware scanner:

I've had the same result with BitDefender. Found nothing, and I KNEW I
was infected. Piece of crap. Spybot not only found the malware it removed
it rather easily...I was sold. Well, not really sold, as it's freeware.

Generally, yes, but that app is totally fine. It's highly regarded in the
security forums and I have been using it for years.

Anyway, with a HOSTS file you are unlikely to find any malware from browsing
the web. I don't.

Are you running SpyBot v1.4 or the beta for v1.5 in Vista?

Why would a properly written application need DEP off?
Just which bit of code is being written to when it runs and by what?
I will stick to DEP on everything thanks.. I have yet to find anything I use
that doesn't work.
