Ad window opens when I close IE

When I close IE a blank window opens with the heading AD-
Microsoft Internet Explorer. I have tried Ad Aware and
spybot but they haven't helped. Can you?

kill windows messenger in services (not to be confused with
instant messenger)
and run a firewall that is not windows xp
