AD vs NDS

What are some of the advantages of using Active Directory
versus NDS?

Because AD doesn't link NTFS or share permissions to UIDs but to the
SID you will not be confused by learning something new. It's still
good old "Add users to groups, give permissions to groups".
You will not be confused by identical names. If a user exists in a OU
the user exists to domain and you will not be able to create another
one with the same logon name. Logon names may look like
username@domain. This uniqueness is quite simple to remember and
forces naming conventions. Same for subdomains. There is no hazzling
around with different SALES domains throughout the forrest. Create
just one, no more. Easy! Just like quotes. NetWare is far to
complicated to handle this well!

Honestly: We're using both linked by DirXML and we will connect our
SAP system somedays using DirXML.
Out file systems are splitted into hierarchical structure (using
NetWare) and project work (group based on W2k).
Best of both worlds and running well.

Ciao, Walter
