AD sites & services - HELP

Rod

Hi, I have the following config:-

1 w2k domain.

3 sites, site 1 connected to other two via leased lines.

site 1 - 2 off w2k servers
site 2 - 1 off w2k server
site 3 - 1 off w2k server

Site one is setup ok, and seems good, but when i add the
server into the second site it all sets up ok for AD and
is a DC for the domain, but i can't see to browse the
network - i've got wins and dns enables on this server and
the server on site with replication of wins between.

I'm unsure of the sites and services setup, as its put all
servers in the default 1st site, and i can't seem to setup
sites or subnets for the other two sites. Only offers the
defaulsitelink - can anyone offer any advise?

Rod,

Are you able to open up the Active Directory Sites and Services MMC? Are
you able to create the second and third Sites? Are you able to create the
Subnets and then associate each with the correct Site?

Take a look at the following MSKB Articles:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318480
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;316812
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306602
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;249256

Just for starters!

What do you have in the way of connectivity between each Site. You
mentioned two leased lines. Do you have a Site-to-Site VPN ( aka
Firewall-to-Firewall VPN ) set up for each location ( probably with Site1 as
the 'hub' and Site2 and Site3 as the 'spokes')?

Also, as I almost always suggest, take a look at the Support Tools. They
are located on the WIN2000 Server CD in the Support | Tools folder as well
as on the WIN2000 Service Pack CD in the Support | Tools folder. I would go
for the Service Pack CD if possible. You can also download them. Take a
look at dcdiag and netdiag as well as repadmin and replmon.

Hi

Yes I can open the sites and services mmc, but can't seem
to create the other sites. I have created the subnet for
the 1st site associated to the default 1st site, but again
can't create the other subnets without the other sites
beiung created with site links, and again can't seem to do
this.

The servers are fully service packed and updated to latest
revisions.

I really don't know what I'm doing wrong.

HELP !!

Rod.

Also re connectivity - site one has a 2Mb leased link link
to site 2, and another leased line link to site 3. They
are direct connections via routers, no firewalls involved.

3 sites are three subnets, 192.168.1.x, 2.x, 3.x

I just can't see why I can't configure the sites in sites
and services.
